This year’s Arrowhead 135 Ultra is shaping up to be just that, Ultra. The distance alone is an impressive feat to accomplish, but paired with the race location, the cold from northern latitudes easily creeps south and envelopes this area of Minnesota.
With temperatures getting to the point where you forget what country you’re in (-40º is the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Nerdy, but science prevails), being prepared is essential to not only finishing the event, but literally surviving the event. New employee, Ben Skoning, is tackling this monster. Cycling Without Age is a program started by Ole Kassow, in Copenhagen, Denmark back in 2012. This program is built around the idea of getting the elderly or unable to cycle, out for a spin to enjoy a simple bicycle ride.
Out on a ride on January 16, 2019 to see how the Specialized Como 2.0 would fair in the cold. A nice ride in 15 degree temperatures assured the bike will not hold you back from getting out during any season in Wisconsin!
